Jan 3 (Reuters) - Novatel Wireless Inc NVTL.O said it expects no significant impact from the Dec. 31 ruling that stops Qualcomm Inc (QCOM.O: Quotazione) from selling certain chips that infringed on the Broadcom Corp (BRCM.O: Quotazione) patents.

The wireless broadband access equipment provider said in 2008, its CDMA customers will have no significant impact due to the "sunset" provision that extends through January 2009.

The company said it expects to migrate to the next generation Qualcomm chipsets well in advance of the court's Jan. 31, 2009, deadline. (Reporting by Anant Vijay Kala in Bangalore; Editing by Deepak Kannan)
