PARIGI, 13 agosto (Reuters) - French consumer prices fell 0.4 percent
month-on-month in July, giving a year-on-year inflation rate of 0.6 percent,
EU-harmonised data released on Wednesday from the INSEE national statistics
office showed.
The month-on-month and year-on-year outcomes were in line with the forecasts of
economists polled by Reuters.

BACKGROUND
French EU-harmonised inflation fell to an historical low of -0.8 percent in July
2009 and hit an all-time high of 4.0 percent in July 2008, according to INSEE's
records going back to 1991.
France has expressed concerns over the impact of low inflation on its growth and
public deficit targets. Second-quarter GDP data is due out on Thursday.
