PARIGI, 12 settembre (Reuters) - French consumer prices rose 0.5 percent in
August from July, giving a year-on-year inflation rate of 1.0 percent,
EU-harmonised data released on Thursday from the INSEE national statistics
office showed.
The result was in line with a Reuters poll of economists' expectations for
an increase of 0.5 percent month-on-month and an increase of 1.0 year-on-year.
Inflation slowed from July when the EU-harmonised consumer price index fell
0.3 percent over one month and rose 1.2 percent over one year. The July figures
were not revised from initial estimate.
INSEE said that the August increase was mainly due to a seasonal rise in
prices for manufactured goods following the summer sales period and higher
prices for tourism-related services.
