April 30 (Reuters) - The Conference Board's U.S. consumer 
confidence index rose in April to 68.1 from an upwardly revised 
61.9 in March, the private business research group reported on 
Tuesday.      
    The original figure reported for February was 59.7.       
    Economists polled by Reuters had forecast a reading of 60.8 
for the April index.

conducted by NFO Research Inc. of Greenwich, Connecticut, for
